Avoid bleach, strong stain removers and harsh detergents.

3. Gently Wash the Garment

Submerge the garment in the water and gently move it through the water.

Do not scrub, twist or aggressively rub the knitted fabric. Gentle handling is particularly important when the garment is wet.

4. Rinse Carefully

Drain the washing water and rinse the garment gently with clean water.

Try to keep the water at a similar temperature throughout washing and rinsing.

5. Remove Excess Water Without Wringing

Never twist or wring wet merino wool knitwear.

Instead, gently press out excess water. You can place the garment on a clean towel, roll the towel with the garment inside and gently press to absorb additional moisture.

Can You Wash Merino Wool in a Washing Machine?

Some merino wool garments can be successfully washed in a washing machine, but the answer depends on the yarn, garment construction, washing programme and machine itself.

This is why the care label of the individual garment should always come first.

However, washing machines, programmes and conditions can differ significantly. A successful result with one garment and machine does not guarantee exactly the same result in every situation.

For this reason, gentle hand washing remains our safest recommended method for Monala knitwear.

What Detergent Should You Use for Merino Wool?
